To me, it didn't really affect me at all because I wouldn't be of legal age to vote, and because I don't live in the U.S. The young Americans that are active voters could still be affected by this video to encourage their friends, or other people to vote and change how they are seen by the other generations. The example that they set by their lack of representation when they vote is why they are seen as lazy, whether they vote or not they would still be generalized until a big change occurs.
This ad is effective and will continue to be effective. It's blowing up all over social media, which means that it has definitely attracted the attention of the many young Americans that have seen the post. According to Time, "Over 800,000 people registered to vote ahead of the midterms on this year’s National Voter Registration Day." This broke the record that was set back in 2016. The use of reverse psychology especially on the rebellious and recalcitrant youth of America was a smart strategy. They'll go and vote to try and prove the video wrong, but in reality they will just be doing exactly what they wanted.
I agree with you Janssen because this ad uses reverse psychology to make the youth think that they are letting the elders enjoy without voting, but little do they know that the elders are actually encouraging them to vote. This ad is really effective because they got many people to start voting and this is good sign that there might be more people wanting to vote. If the youth do not start voting now, it will impact them and the future generation. Voting is a privilege given to us and we need to take advantage of it. If we don't, then we wouldn't have a voice in our own community.
